A Note on Classical Music

The classical music era for the Western hemisphere extends from 1750 to 1830. The musicians most well known for music from this era are Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. You may be familiar with other famous composers, such as Bach Chopin, or Schubert but they may have risen to fame in the renaissance, baroque, romantic, nationalistic or modern eras.

Research shows that playing classical music for babies, whether in the womb or after birth is soothing and helps to promote brain function and development. Other studies have found these effects last through adulthood when classical music is listened to regularly. It’s no wonder that classical music is frequently utilized in music therapy programs as it is said to help improve sleep, communication skills, and memory and also reduce pain and anxiety.
