Kathern is one of our many cherished residents that make Shady Lawn a brighter place every day with her contagious smile. She was born in Webster County in 1925. She eloped at the age of 16 and became a military wife immediately. She remained married to her husband JB for 64 years before his passing at the age of 87. They moved to Christian County in 1961 where they bought a farm and raised their 6 children. She became a member of several area churches over the years and maintained membership with the Locust Grove Homemakers Club for 73 years. She loves children and took care of many youngsters in her lifetime. She has 12 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She loved to sew, quilt, do crafts, sing in her choir, read, garden, do word puzzles and canned more tomatoes than anyone could eat. She has never met a stranger and always loved meeting new people and going on adventures. She is very proud of, and loves, all her children, grandchildren, and those she adopted as her own. We are blessed with being able to share these golden years with Kathern as she makes all of our lives just a little brighter each and every day.
