Short-Term Therapy Success: Ms. G

Older adult woman in a gym with physical therapist doing stretches and strength exercises

Ms. was admitted to Shady Lawn for short term rehab following hospitalization due to a stroke. After her hospitalization, Ms. G was debilitated and received extensive rehabilitation which included occupational and physical therapy services 5 days a week. She also received speech therapy due to difficulty with home management tasks. Her therapy included core and all extremity strengthening exercise, neuromuscular facilitation, posture training, balance training, gait, and activities of daily living. Upon admission, Ms. G was unable to walk and required extensive assistance with transfers, bed mobility and dressing. She demonstrated consistent progress with her therapy and discharged home with her family. Ms. G was walking with a hemi-walker and transferring to her w/c independently. Ms. G was a pleasure to work with and made excellent progress. We wish her the best as she returns home.
