Short-Term Therapy Success Stories: John B.

Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehab Short Term Therapy Resident John B.

John B. was admitted to Shady Lawn following hospitalization due to a short illness. John was having multiple falls at home and increased weakness prior to his hospitalization. After his hospitalization, John was debilitated and received rehabilitation services which included occupational and physical therapy 5 days a week. His therapies included core and all extremity strengthening exercise, neuromuscular facilitation, posture training, balance training, ambulation, and ADL’s. Upon admission, John was walking one hundred feet, transferring, dressing, bathing, and completing hygiene with moderate assistance. At discharge, he was walking 250 feet independently with a rolling walker. His transfers improved from moderate assistance to independent. John was also doing activities of daily living, bathing, hygiene task, and transferring independently. John’s goal was to get home so he could mow his yard. John discharged home with his spouse. John was a pleasure to work with, and his hard work and motivation paid off.
