Short-Term Therapy Success Stories: Ms. Joyce
Ms. Joyce was admitted to the facility following a fall with resultant (R) hip fracture. Following the fracture, she was unable to walk, and staff had to use a mechanical lift for transfers to her wheelchair. Ms. Joyce was unable to go from a lying to sitting position on the edge of the bed without MAX assistance from staff. She required help with dressing, hygiene tasks, and was unable to transfer to the toilet. She participated with OT and PT with the goal to discharge to assisted living with her family. We are happy to say she met her goals and was able to return to Hopkinsville with her family. She was walking 50 feet with a rolling walker, independent with transfers, and supervision with dressing/hygiene when she was discharged from the facility. We are so proud of you, Ms. Joyce!
