Therapy Success Story

Bobby G. admitted to Shady Lawn following hospitalization due to
having multiple falls at home with resultant shoulder fracture. He was
having increased weakness and unable to safely return home. After his
hospitalization, Bobby was debilitated and needed rehabilitation services
including PT and OT with focus on core and extremity strengthening,
postural training, balance training, ambulation, activities of daily living,
and activity tolerance. Prior to his hospitalization he was independent
with activities of daily living and ambulated with a rollator. Bobby was
walking 150 feet on admission with a walker and assistance, standing
supported for activities of daily living and activity tolerance for 5 minutes,
transferred with touch assist, and completed most activities of daily living
with a little help. After working hard in therapy, Bobby was walking 150 feet
independently with a rollator, improved his standing balance to 15 minutes,
activity tolerance to 30 minutes, and activities of daily living such as
bathing and dressing with independence. Bobby was able to be discharged
home with his spouse after receiving PT and OT. Bobby was motivated to
return home and worked hard in his therapy.
