Short-Term Therapy Success

Mr. Larry D. was admitted to our facility due to complex hospitalization requiring intubation and mechanical ventilation. Upon admission, Larry was extremely weak and had low endurance, unable to return home. He was able to ambulate 10 feet with a rolling walker with supervision, stand supported for 30-60 seconds during activities, required moderate assistance during bathing, dressing, and taking off and putting on footwear. After some PT and OT intervention, Mr. Larry improved his functional mobility, strength, and endurance. He was discharged from therapy able to ambulate 150 feet with a rolling walker, independent with dressing, bathing, and putting on and taking off footwear. Mr. Larry demonstrated standing during activities unsupported for greater than 5 minutes. He was pleasant and met all his goals. Way to go Larry!
