Short-Term Therapy Success Stories: Mr. H.
Mr. H. was admitted to Shady Lawn following a hospitalization due to exacerbation of emphysema and decline in functional mobility. Mr. H. lived alone and was unable to return home safely directly from the hospital. Upon admission, Mr. H. was ambulating up to 350 feet with occasional loss of balance with supervision, standing unsupported for 1-3 minutes, supervision for bathing and required moderate assistance for housekeeping and cooking tasks. After skilled therapy 5 days a week and motivation to improve his mobility/safety, Mr. H. was able to discharge to a personal care home with increased independence. Mr. H. was ambulating unlimited distances independently, standing unsupported for greater than 10 minutes, bathing independently, and was supervision for household tasks. Way to go, Mr. H. – you were a pleasure to work with!
